The Performing Arts Center at Stockton University echoed with melodious voices on March 10 as eleven local high school choirs showcased their talents during the annual High School Choral Day. Organized by the School of Arts & Humanities, this event has been a platform for hundreds of students to display their musical achievements for over two decades. The participating choirs varied in size and attire, from small ensembles to large groups, each bringing unique energy to the stage. Faculty members like Julie-Ann Green praised the program for its role in bridging gaps between schools and inspiring future performances.

For more than twenty years, Stockton University has hosted an annual gathering where young vocalists come together to share their passion for music. This year was no exception, as the Performing Arts Center welcomed a diverse array of choirs. Each choir brought its own flavor to the event, ranging from intimate groups of eight singers to expansive ensembles of over sixty participants. Some performers dressed formally in concert black, while others opted for casual wear adorned with their school colors. The atmosphere was electric, filled with anticipation and camaraderie.

The day was not just about performing but also about learning. Guest adjudicators provided valuable feedback to help students grow as musicians. Donna Marie Berchtold, Michael Doheny, and Kathleen Spadafino were among those who offered critiques aimed at nurturing rather than judging. Richard Tinsley, a faculty member at Egg Harbor Township High School, highlighted the importance of this supportive environment. He noted that it allows students to experience different styles of performance without the pressure of competition. Instead, the focus is on mutual encouragement and growth.

Beyond the stage performances, the event fostered a sense of community among the participants. When not performing, students cheered enthusiastically for their peers, creating a positive and uplifting ambiance.
