Navarro, who also serves as a pastor, takes pride in assisting those experiencing homelessness near her restaurant. A "Wall of Hope" allows patrons to prepay for meals for others, and hundreds of meals have been distributed during the holidays. Gilbert’s Mexican Restaurant faced potential closure earlier this year but managed to stay open, highlighting the ongoing struggles within the industry.
